The Infrastructure Minister insists the impact of roadworks on businesses is taken into account before schemes get underway.
Ray Harmer was asked about projects resulting in road closures and traffic disruption in the House of Keys this morning.
The Minister revealed his Department consider whether failing to take action in an area would have a greater impact on business than roadworks, as well as weighing up the short-term and long-term impact of such schemes.
Mr Harmer insists businesses would suffer worse if customers could no longer reach their premises because of poor access.
He added that the DoI always looks for ways to improve the highways while minimising disruption.
