Rushen Primary School will have a new headteacher from the start of the next academic year.
Suzanne Owens, who attended the school as a pupil, takes charge of the school from September 2017.
Ms Owens has been an acting headteacher at a school in the North West, and has previously headed an international school and been a founding principal of an international primary school in the Middle East.
Tom Thomson has been headteacher at the school since 1997, but retires this summer.
