The Queen approves appointment of new bishop

Downing Street has announced that the Queen has approved the appointment of Peter Eagles as the Island's new bishop.

The Archdeacon for the Army and Honorary Canon of Salisbury Cathedral will take over from Robert Paterson as Bishop of Sodor and Man.

The 57-year-old has also served as Honorary Chaplain to the Queen since 2013.

He is expected to formally take up the role later this year.
