The Infrastructure Minister insists his Department needs to strike a balance between securing air routes and making air travel sustainable.
Ray Harmer faced questions about the cost of flights on and off the Island at this month's sitting of Tynwald.
Mr Harmer confirmed his Department is trying to make sure fares attract enough passengers to make routes sustainable.
The Minister also revealed his Department plans to speak to one airline operating out of Ronaldsway over the price of their flights during TT week.
The DoI can contact airlines if it receives complaints over the cost of air fares.
