The Education Minister believes a recent survey of Manx teacher about the behaviour of pupils used loaded questions to create their findings
A NASUWT survey found over 80% of teachers at the Island's schools had been on the receiving end of verbal abuse or threats of violence from their students.
However, Graham Cregeen told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that the questions were limited and designed to elicit a particular response, which he insists doesn't give a true reflection of the Island's young people.
The Minister also confirmed there have been a few cases where teachers have felt threatened, but that policies are in place to deal with such cases.
Arbory, Malew and Castletown MHK Jason Moorhouse - who has more than 20 years teaching experience on the Island - added that he was surprised to hear the survey's claims.
