The Ben-my-Chree is back in service after spending more than 30 hours sidelined with a technical issue.
The vessel suffered a failure in the cylinder head of one of its main engines on Sunday, and had to return to the Island for repairs.
The Steam Packet Company revealed the fix was particularly difficult given the location of the failed securing stud.
As well as replacing the stud, the Ben needed a new piston and cylinder liner, and had to have the engine coolant topped up.
The repair was completed in time for the vessel's evening crossing to Heysham, which left around 30 minutes later than schedule, while the Arrow docked shortly after having covered the freight run.
