The Ben-my-Chree will undergo further repairs in Douglas after engineers in Heysham were unable to fix the fault that resulted in last night's sailings being cancelled.
The vessel had to return to Douglas without passengers on one engine overnight, getting back to the Island shortly after 8.00 this morning.
The Steam Packet Company has had to cancel the 8.45am crossing and return sailing at 2.15pm, but is hopeful the 7.45pm service from Douglas to the Lancashire port will be able to go ahead as scheduled.
The Ben will have a new cylinder head fitted today, while Arrow has been called in as freight cover.
Passengers booked to travel on the affected sailings can contact the company's reservations team on 661661 to make alternative arrangements.
