The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading is warning Manx residents of an email scam.
The phishing scam starts with an email from an apparent good samaritan telling their victim they've been accidentally sent their target's personal details.
However, the attachment which claims to contain the information instead installs malware onto the recipient's computer, allowing the scammer to obtain data such as banking details and passwords.
UK organisation Action Fraud recently received 200 reports of the scam over a three-day period, which the OFT here says it has received calls from concerned locals.
The OFT is urging anyone who receives any unsolicited email to be wary of links and attachments.
