Regeneration works in one of Douglas Town Centre's main shopping streets will take up to 11 months.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed work will get underway in Castle Street in January next year, and will be completed by November in time for the Christmas shopping period.
The scheme will include full reconstruction of the street, installation of new lighting and improved drainage.
The current surface, which the Department admits looks tired and dated, was laid nearly 40 years ago.
The DoI is planning to use the same granite materials used in recent regeneration works in Strand Street and Regent Street.
Once the Castle Street work is completed, the Department is planning a similar scheme for Duke Street.
