The Island's Financial Crime Unit says a woman who stole from a family business committed an act of serious dishonesty.
32-year-old Fenella Jane Carter of Peel was sentenced to 20 months in jail for the theft of £33,700 from Carter Ltd - a legal practice owned by her uncle.
Between August 2009 and June 2011, she used her position as a bookkeeper to take the funds, which she used to purchase a horse box.
The police say Carter used her knowledge of bookkeeping to perpetrate the crime and attempt to disguise her offending.
The theft left her uncle's business with serious difficulties, while officers claim the family will need time to repair the damage of her actions.
