Fire crews help rescue horse from ditch

Jazz with her owner, fire crews and Derry Kissack after being rescued from a ditch in Onchan.

Fire crews were called to the aid of a horse which had got stuck in a ditch in Onchan.

Five-year-old mare Jazz became trapped after stumbling on land next to Honey Hill on Saturday afternoon.

A team from Douglas spent around an hour at the scene recovering the animal, who had become distressed due to pressure on the lungs.

The fire service is also thanking Derry Kissack for providing essential equipment to allow the rescue to be completed so quickly.
