Mountain Road closed as snow hits Island

The Mountain Road at 8am today.

The Mountain Road is closed after snow fell on higher ground in the Island overnight.

Police say the route has been shut due to deteriorating conditions, but it will be assessed again later.

Other roads on higher ground have been described as passable with care, with the police urging drivers to take care.

The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning until 3am tomorrow, forecasting heavy rain, sleet and snow accumulations.
