Ramsey Town Commissioners say it's not acceptable for the town's courthouse to be developed inappropriately or fall into disuse.
The building was listed on the open market for £475,000 earlier this week, despite the local authority expressing an interest in running a community facility in the building.
The Commissioners recently asked for feedback from local residents over the future use of the building, and received almost 1000 submissions.
The responses will be discussed in a meeting later today, while Home Affairs Minister Bill Malarkey has been invited to meet with the board to discuss the potential future use of the site.
Mr Malarkey confirmed in this week's sitting of the House of Keys that the Commissioners will be consulted before the sale of the building is finalised.
