Life of power station could be extended to 2050

Manx Utilities hopes the Pulrose Power Station's life expectancy can be extended beyond 2034.

Chairman Alex Allinson revealed in this week's sitting of the House of Keys that the equipment is currently expected to last a further 17 years.

However, Dr Allinson confirmed it's possible to extend the life of the facility with overhauls and updates to 2050.

One of the station's gas turbines underwent a £2.9m major overhaul last year, with the other scheduled for the same during the 2018-19 financial year.
