Over half a million pounds has been spent on oil to power the incinerators at the Energy from Waste Plant over the last three years.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer revealed the facility has needed more than 1.1m litres of oil to fuel the primary and secondary incinerators since the start of the 2014-15 financial year.
The figures for the current period are the highest, with almost £170,000 spent on oil since the start of April last year.
Despite the increasing cost, the plant hasn't been used to dispose of as much waste this year, burning just over 44,500 tonnes compared with 52,500 during the 2015-16 period.
Last year the Minister revealed the plant generates a little over 6% of the electricity used on the Island.
