Public transport passengers up by 7%

The number of people using public transport on the Island is up by 7%.

The Department of Infrastructure revealed over 4 million passengers used the Island's public transport network in 2016, including almost 3.5 million bus journeys.

The Government believes the introduction of Wifi on buses and the use of real-time information through an app has made public transport more accessible.

July to September was the busiest period of the year, with more than 1.1 million journeys made during the third quarter of the year.
