Cannan to deliver first budget speech

The Island's budget for the next 12 months will be outlined in Tynwald this morning.

Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan will deliver his first budget speech since taking up the post last October.

Mr Cannan's budget comes a month after the Council of Ministers set out its Programme for Government, identifying the Island's priorities for the next five years.

The document highlighted the need to be sustainable and responsible with cost reduction targets to be set in this budget.

The sitting of Tynwald gets underway at 10.30am.
