The Economic Development Minister admits that the drop in visitor spend last year is disappointing.
The Government's annual passenger survey revealed those coming to the Island spent £2.2m less in 2016 than the previous 12 months, despite more people coming to the Island.
Laurence Skelly believes the drop is down to visitors spending less on-Island rather than on hotels, as accommodation providers saw an 11% rise in income.
Mr Skelly insists the figures are still encouraging despite the lower spending, with visitor numbers growing for a third straight year.
