A man from Douglas has appeared in court in England as part of an investigation into abuse at a school for boys with behavioural problems.
76-year-old Derrick William Cooper of Hillberry Green appeared at Kendal Magistrates Court charged with six counts of assault and two counts of child cruelty.
It's alleged the offences took place at Underley Hall boarding school in Cumbria, which closed in 2012.
Cooper is one of six men who have been charged as a result of Operation Tweed - which was launched by Cumbria Police following allegations from former pupils.
All six men have been granted bail and will appear before Carlisle Crown Court next month.
