Douglas Borough Council insists it had no valid reason to object to plans to construct a mobile phone antenna in Governor's Hill.
The Council voted not to raise an objection to the plans as it meets with the Island's Strategic Plan.
However, the local authority insists it has not "officially approved" the application, and that support for the plans was not unanimous, with the Environmental Service Chairman among those voting against.
Sure wants to replace an existing lamppost with one topped with an antenna to improve its coverage on the estate.
