The Infrastructure Minister hopes Ramsey's bus station site can be used for social housing in the future.
Ray Harmer confirmed that his Department is still looking to build a new transport interchange elsewhere in the town, freeing the current bus station site for other purposes.
Plans for a combined interchange for the town's buses and tram services stalled, but the Minister confirmed the DoI is currently working on a more modest scheme.
Mr Harmer was speaking at this week's House of Keys sitting following an enquiry about the project from Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson.
