Steam Packet hopes Ben will sail tonight

The Steam Packet Company will issue a further update this evening as divers continue to assess damage to the Ben-my-Chree.

The vessel struck the pier while attempting to berth during strong winds in Douglas last night, resulting in this morning's sailing being cancelled.

The ferry operator says the diving team is continuing to inspect the hull, but hopes the Ben will be ready for the sailing at 7.45pm.

However, the company warns weather conditions could also result in disruption.

An announcement is due to be made at 5pm.
