The Island's Treasury will not be bringing in a 12-sided pound coin later this year.
The Government confirmed that the Isle of Man will not be following the UK, which will start introducing its new coin next month.
From October, shops and other UK businesses will only accept the new-style coin, but old and new pound coins will still be accepted on the Island.
However, the Treasury insists it will monitor the situation and could switch to a 12-sided coin in the future.
The UK believes its new coin will be harder to forge.
