The Treasury Minister says he is looking at whether the Manx public could be given more influence over the budget.
Alfred Cannan will deliver his first budget since taking charge of the Treasury when Tynwald sits next month.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper wanted to know what is being done to allow the public to be more involved in the process at this morning's House of Keys sitting, including asking whether some funds could be left open for the public to decide what they're used on.
Similar systems are used elsewhere in the world, with Mr Hooper citing Boston and New York as examples.
Mr Cannan confirmed the Treasury has been looking at similar ideas for the Manx budget, and whether such a system could be effective here.
