Nominations open for food and farming awards

Lough Dhoo Farm and Andreas Meats won last year's awards

Farmers and food producers on the Island can be nominated for the 2017 Food and Farming Awards.

The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says the awards are to recognise those who contribute to growing the Island's food and drink sector.

Criteria for farming nominees include farming in an efficient and profitable way, promoting locally produced food and farming in a way that conserves the environment.

For the food category, nominees must use local produce, be market focused and promote the local food sector.

Nominees must be submitted to DEFA by the end of March.
