Police are warning of scammers targeting businesses on the Island with bogus invoices.
Officers in Douglas were contacted after one business almost paid a bill which appeared legimate before realising it was a hoax.
Companies are being urged to ensure all invoices are legitimate before sending payment, particuarly those sent by email and paid electronically.
The police say a company would have lost a significant sum of money had it not noticed the payment details on the invoice were incorrect, alerting them to the scam.
