Proposals to introduce a living wage on the Isle of Man will go before Tynwald later this year.
A motion by Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper received support at this month's sitting, asking members to back the introduction of the wage for Manx workers.
A voluntary system for companies to pay the rate will now be drawn up and a report will go before Tynwald by October.
The living wage is already offered by some businesses in the UK, and is designed to pay workers enough to cover the basic cost of living.
