Fire crews had to help two people from a van after it was hit by a tree on Peel Road.
The incident happened shortly after 7.30am yesterday at Ballacraine, when high winds resulted in the tree falling.
The passenger was unhurt and managed to free himself from the vehicle before the emergency services arrived on the scene, but cutting equipment had to be used to get the driver out.
The fallen tree also damaged overhead power cables in the area, resulting in power loss to some nearby homes.
Fire officers and a team from the Department of Infrastructure spent around an hour at the scene removing the vehicle and clearing the road.
