Plastic bag charge enquiry for DEFA Minister

An MHK wants to know whether plastic bag charges will brought in on the Isle of Man.

Shoppers already have to pay for plastic carrier bags in England and Wales, and some British chains operating on the Island charge here, although it's not compulsory.

Ramsey MHK Alex Allinson will as Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot if such charges will be made mandatory locally.

Dr Allinson also wants to know if the charges could be used to fund environmental projects.
