Those who marked New Year by taking part in one of the Island's New Year's Day dips have helped raise thousands of pounds for charity.

The organisers of the Southern Dips confirmed sponsorship and T-shirt sales helped raise over £2,000 for local charity Bridge The Gap, which helps teenagers and young adults with long-term health needs.

Meanwhile, Ramsey's dip raised almost £700 on the day for the local lifeboat station and primary school, although that total is expected to rise as sponsorship money continues to come in.

Douglas's dip was in aid of Isle of Man Breast Care Now, while Peel will divide it's total between the lifeboat, Multiple Sclerosis and Peel & Western Anti-Cancer, but their totals haven't been finalised yet.
