A further application to build a multi-purpose development on the site of the former Albert Road Primary School in Ramsey has been submitted.
The plans have been altered following an objection from the town's Chamber of Commerce, which raised concerns over the addition of retail space.
The organisation believed adding more shops to the area would harm those already operating in Ramsey.
A local resident also submitted a letter of objection about the development, including concerns over the retail units.
As a result, the application now includes units for commercial use rather than retail, meaning a variety of businesses, such as restaurants, could use the space.
The plans also include space for a coffee shop, town houses and offices.
The site has been used as a car park since the school closed in 2008.
