The Castle Mona is currently in a fair condition according to the Minister of Environment, Food and Agriculture.
Geoffrey Boot told this week's sitting of the House of Keys the building underwent a full assessment in October.
The Minister also revealed that the assessment was part of an ongoing discussion with a developer which could see the building used again in the future.
The registered building is owned by the Sefton Group and was previously used as an entertainment complex, but it has been left empty for a number of years.
Mr Boot added it's more important to help Sefton find a future for the building than issue formal action by issuing a repair notice.
