Onchan District Commissioners say a number of the Island's local authorities were against plans to increase public sector rents.
The Department of Infrastructure announced plans to put prices up by 2% from April next year following talks with local authority housing providers.
However, Onchan's board states it and other authorities wanted no change to the cost of rent.
The DoI insists the increase is necessary for future investment in public sector housing, which is being operated at a £4.1m loss this year.
