Fire at campsite kitchen

Fire crews from Douglas were called out following a fire at a campsite in Union Mills.

Officers attending the blaze at a communal kitchen on the Close ny Howin campsite shortly after 10am yesterday.

The timber building was away from the main road, so crews had to hitch a lift on the site owner's quad bike with portable extinguishers to tackle the fire.

The team spent around an hour at the scene damping down and cutting away affected timber after putting the flames out.
