Christmas shoppers will be able to park on the Douglas promenade walkway for free over the festive season.
A disc zone will be operated between the War Memorial and the Bottleneck car park from December 10th until January 8th.
The move comes after pay and display meters were introduced last year, resulting in concern from local retailers believing it would put shoppers off spending in town.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer confirmed the move in this morning's sitting of the House of Keys, saying the free parking will help support the local economy.
Parking will be limited to two hours during the period.
