The Steam Packet Company has confirmed Manannan will remain in Douglas over the winter.
The fastcraft has previously been moored in Merseyside during its winter break, but stayed in the Island for the first time last year.
The ferry operator hopes keeping Manannan in Douglas will help minimise disruption should there be any damage or mechanical problems for the Ben-my-Chree in the coming months.
The vessel will remain moored in Douglas harbour until the start of 2017, when it will go in for its annual overhaul.
The fastcraft's final sailing before the winter will be on Sunday, with services resuming in March.
