Urgent repairs are needed to two lighthouses in the north of the Island.
The Department of Infrastructure confirmed refurbishments will get underway to the two 'pepperpot' structures on Ramsey's north and south piers next week.
The renovations will cost £100,000 and are expected to be completed by the Spring.
The four-metre high structures are more than 120 years old, and recent inspections revealed them to be in need of complete renovation.
The Department is concerned that delaying work further could result in the lighthouses being washed away like the similar-style lighthouse in Port St Mary, which disappeared after a violent storm in 2009.
Temporary navigation lights will be in place on the two piers while the lighthouses are out of commission.
