The Chief Minister says a more flexible benefits system could help reduce the number of people on the Island who rely on a foodbank.
Onchan MHK Rob Callister asked Howard Quayle what the Manx Government's plans are to help those who depend on the foodbank to feed their families.
In this morning's sitting of the House of Keys, Mr Quayle admitted that it is a concern, and that more needs to be done to understand the root cause of the issue.
Mr Quayle believes the Government must ensure everyone has the chance to provide for themselves and their families.
He added the benefits system could be more flexible to reflect the changing needs of people throughout their lifetime.
The Chief Minister confirmed that the Social Policy and Children's committee of the Council of Ministers will look into the matter further.
