The Department of Health and Social Care is supporting an international campaign to raise awareness of intensive interaction.
Intensive interaction is a technique of teaching speech and communication to children and adults, particularly those with learning disabilities and autism.
The Island's Speech and Language Therapy Team have already been teaching other healthcare professionals about intensive interaction this week, while those who use the service will be attending an awareness event tomorrow.
It's the first year such a week has been held, encouraging those who work in speech therapy and carers to do something extra to help those with communication difficulties.
The Speech and Language Therapy Service on the Island works with children and adults who struggle to communicate or have difficulties with eating, drinking and swallowing.
