A group campaigning for an update to the Island's abortion law has launched a petition addressed to the Island's new Health Minister.
The Humanity and Equality in Abortion Reform - or HEAR - campaign posted its petition online yesterday, and has already collected more than 4,000 signatures.
Douglas South MHK Kate Beecroft was placed in charge of the Department of Health and Social Care earlier this week.
HEAR wants changes to rules that allow abortions for disability as well as more mental health safeguards and support for women with unplanned pregnancies.
Currently, only women who meet strict criteria can have an abortion on the Island.
