A donation from a local health trust will help improve the early detection of breast cancer in women on the Isle of Man.
The Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust has given £70,000 to the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group to fund Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, or DBT.
DBT creates a 3D image of the breast, allowing doctors to detect smaller cancers and increasing the detection rate by up to 40%.
The Group has raised almost £2m in total to fund a dedicated breast care unit on the Island in a bid to help more women secure an early diagnosis of the condition, resulting in less invasive treatment.
DBT will be installed at Noble's as part of planned upgrades to the radiology systems at the hospital over the winter.
Over 6,000 women are screened annually on the Island, with more than 100 people diagnosed each year.
