Howard Quayle named Chief Minister

Howard Quayle is the Island's new Chief Minister following a vote in Tynwald this morning.

The former Health and Social Care Minister received support from half of the House of Keys and all of the Legislative Council to beat his rivals to the post.

Kate Beecroft received three votes while Alf Cannan found support from nine of his peers.

After Mr Quayle received the most support in the initial vote, Tynwald voted 24-8 in favour of appointing the MHK for Middle.

Mr Quayle is likely to name those in his Council of Ministers later this week.
