Rushen MHK Laurence Skelly is interested in being the Island's next Chief Minister.

Two MHKs who served in the Council of Ministers under the previous administration have been linked with the Chief Minister's role.

The top job in the House of Keys is vacant following Allan Bell's decision not to stand in this year's General Election.

Former Economic Development Minister Laurence Skelly and Howard Quayle, who was in charge of Health and Social Care prior to the vote, have both expressed an interest in the role.

Both men have just completed their first term in Government, having first been elected in 2011.

Just half of the 24 candidates elected in Thursday's vote have served in the House before, while only eight have completed a full five-year term previously.

Nominations for the Chief Minister's post have to be made by Tuesday, with a vote taking place in Tynwald on October 4th.
