Major works to the main road through Foxdale will get underway next month.
The scheme will take place in three stages, starting with a six-week road closure at the Mines Road junction from October 3rd, with the whole project due to be completed by TT next year.
The next phase will cover the stretch from Mines Road to Costain's Yard, before the final step will see the road from Dove Cottage back to Mines Road tackled.
A 550-metre section of road will be relaid, overhead electricity cables moved underground and a storm water pipe installed.
The Department of Infrastructure revealed some sections of the current road surface are just 40mm thick with no foundation, making the works necessary.
Access to the village's filling station and pub will be maintained, while a limited bus service will operate.
