With a large contingent of Seniors away at Meriden and most of the Juniors gearing up for a return to school, numbers were down at Greeba on Sunday. The round of the day was a 720 (72 arrows shot at a single distance – 70m for Recurve, 50m for Compound) shot as part of the Club’s Scratch League. Conditions were dank and blustery which gave the archers a testing time.

Josh Trafford, John Hill and Matt Elliott had mixed fortunes in the Gents Recurve division. Matt added a spectacular 146 points to his pb for the round shooting with new, heavier limbs for the first time. John Hill, unfortunately, had to withdraw part way through the shoot as a lack of practice took its toll on his endurance levels. Josh Trafford shot a little below his best but still romped home the winner by a clear 116 points.

Barbara Harris also shot at the 70m distance but was well below her usual standard and found the going tough.

Colin Moore and Pete Mumford faced off against each other in the Gents Compound. Colin had the lead after the first dozen but Pete over took him at the end of the second dozen and stayed ahead until the finish.

Joy Gough, struggling with a niggling injury, had six misses during the morning and was glad when the round was over.

Junior James Hill was joined at the 40m target by Tilly Ashton. Having just moved up an age group, Tilly was shooting the single distance round for the first time. Although initially disappointed with her score, Tilly set a decent benchmark for herself and set a new Club Record into the bargain. James Hill also coped very well with the trying conditions to add 89 points to his pb for the round.
