Crashes over this year's Festival of Motorcycling period were down by 18 per cent. 

 

That's according to police who've described the reduction as 'significant' when compared to the same time period last year.

 

Over the fortnight there was one collision which resulted in serious injury - this was down on the 2015 figures when there were four and a double fatality. 

 

Sergeant Steven Lapsley heads up the Roads Policing Team - he says on the whole people respected the Island's roads:
