Boost for beach cleaning charity
Wed, 24 Aug 2016
£30,000 of taxpayers' money has been handed over to a local charity so it can keep the Island's beaches clean.
Beach Buddies has received the funding from the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture - it was formed almost a decade ago and has 7,000 volunteers.
The charity says it will use some of the money to launch an education programme and visit schools to talk about litter and the dangers it poses to wildlife and the environment.
