Twelve members arrived for the penultimate match of the IoM Shooting Club’s 50 metre 2016 summer series and in the Osborn Carpets second 600 round 7, Michael Duncalf took the win on 615.1 from what appeared to be a revitalised and delighted, Bill Jones who has posted some terrible and most unusual results throughout the summer on 609.6, in the process did not drop below 100 in any of his series. John Wood claimed third recording 606.5. It was nice to see junior shooter, James Ogilvy back on the Island before returning to university, on the firing line in his first 50 metre event and although placed in eleventh position and in his own words, “I shot a little too quickly but I will learn”, hopefully he enjoyed the experience.

The Empire Garage Tynwald Shield goes Bill Jones way
With an excellent gun score, there was little doubt that round 17 of The Empire Garage Tynwald Shield would go to Bill Jones. Once his handicap had been added, a posted score of 662.1 took the round from Nick Brown on 658.2 and James Ogilvy in third on 657.4. Notably there were only twelve points between first and eighth so it appears that the August handicaps are very accurate.

Dates for your Diaries
With the 2016 Monday evening series of matches now completed the next outdoor match will be the IoM Shooting Club’s Monthly Handicap on September 4. See below.
PLEASE NOTE – AGM date change
There has been a change to the date of the Annual General Meeting of the IoM Shooting Club from that indicated on the Competition Programme for 2016.
It has been decided, rather than holding the club’s AGM and the Annual Prize Presentation as separate events, both will take place on Sunday, September 4 after the September Handicap match, followed by a ‘hog roast’ and BBQ to finish off the day and it is hoped that some ‘fun Shoots’ can be held but more will be revealed nearer the day. Times and price will be announced as soon as possible, but it would be helpful if you could let Mike Duncalf know by email on mdshooting@gmail.com to reserve a ticket as soon as possible.
