Lesley wins 8 day South West Archery Challenge

Thu, 18 Aug 2016

The basic format of the South West Challenge is an eight day challenge, held at four different venues, each club hosting two days. Lesley won each of the four two day shoots. Her consistent high standard of shooting not only saw her become the Champion of the Womens’ American Flatbow Class by several hundred points but also take the South West Challenge Handicap Trophy as the overall champion of all the classes.

This year was the 20th Anniversary and Lesley is the first Lady American Flatbow archer ever to win the overall Championship trophy. The competition attracted some of the top field archers. There were national champions from a number of different bow styles not only from UK but from overseas.

Lesley said ‘I was really pleased with my standard of shooting. I achieved some very high scores on some very demanding courses. I was not far behind the overall leading male score. The field competition was mainly 3D animals. This has been excellent practice and has given me confidence ready to compete for Great Britain at the European 3D championships in Slovenia later this month.’

Lesley is a member of Bowderyn Vannin and Isle of Man Archery Club.
