New probation hub could deter reoffending

Housing probation staff and offenders under the same roof could help deter them from reoffending.
That's the view of the Department of Home Affairs which has moved its officers to a new hub at Tromode House in Cronkbourne Village.
It says combining probation services and living accommodation - when the bail hostel relocates - will promote a more 'integrated offender management system'.
Probation officers will become more involved in reparation, intervention and restorative justice - Geraldine Martin is the head of community rehabilitation:
